PetPaper

Privacy Policy

Last updated 4 September 2026. This policy takes effect when PetPaper is released on Google Play.

The short version. To build your pet we need one photo of them, and we send that photo to the companies whose image and video services we use. We keep the photo and the finished pet while you subscribe, and for 120 days after your subscription ends, so that your pet comes straight back if you return. After that both are deleted for good. We do not sell anything to advertisers, we do not run third-party analytics, and we never use your photo to train anyone's models.

1. Who we are

PetPaper is an Android live wallpaper made and operated in the Republic of Korea. For anything in this policy, write to hello@petpaper.app. We answer in English or Korean.

We are the data controller for the information described here. The company behind PetPaper is being registered; its legal name, registered address and business registration number will be published on this page before PetPaper is released on Google Play.

2. What we collect, and why

A note about what is in the photo

The photo is meant to be of your pet. If a person appears in it, that person's image is personal data too, and we handle it under this same policy. Please do not send photos of other people without their agreement, and do not send anything you would not want processed by the services listed below.

3. Who we share it with

Building a pet is not something we do alone. Your photo is sent to the services below, which act as our processors under written terms. They may not use it for their own purposes.

Google (Gemini and Veo)Your photo, to produce the reference image and the motion clipsUnited States
fal.aiThe reference image, to produce some of the motion clipsUnited States

CloudflareServing this websiteGlobal

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for advertising. We disclose data to authorities only where the law requires it.

Transfers outside the EEA and the UK

The services above are in the United States, and we operate from the Republic of Korea. Where personal data leaves the EEA or the UK, the transfer relies on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, or on an adequacy decision where one applies to the recipient.

4. How long we keep it

WhatKept for
The photo you sentWhile your subscription is active, and 120 days after it ends. We keep it so we can rebuild your pet at no cost to you if something came out wrong, and so we can make it again if you come back.
The pet we builtWhile your subscription is active, and 120 days after it ends. Then it is deleted and cannot be recovered.
Purchase recordsAs long as tax and accounting law requires.
Technical recordsUp to 90 days.

If you come back. Subscribing again does not by itself bring your pet back. Your pet is tied to the one-time purchase that created it, and returning to it is a new purchase. Within those 120 days we still hold your pet, so it arrives at once. After 120 days it is gone, and we build it again from a new photo you send us.

You can ask us to delete your photo or your pet sooner than this. See section 6.

5. Training and reuse

We do not use your photo or your pet to train machine-learning models, ours or anyone else's. We do not use them in marketing, in the app store listing, or on this website unless you have given us separate, written permission for that specific image.

6. Your rights

If you are in the EEA or the UK, you have the right to ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable form. If you are in the Republic of Korea, you have equivalent rights under the Personal Information Protection Act. Wherever you are, we will honour these requests.

Write to hello@petpaper.app. We answer within 30 days. We may need to confirm which purchase is yours before we act, since we do not hold your name.

If you think we have handled your data badly, you may complain to your local supervisory authority. In Korea this is the Personal Information Protection Commission.

7. Children

PetPaper is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us a photo, write to us and we will delete it.

8. Security

Photos and finished pets are stored on Google Cloud with access limited to the accounts that run the service. Requests between the app and our server are encrypted in transit. No system is perfect, but we keep the amount of data we hold small on purpose, which is the strongest protection we can offer.

9. Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top always shows the current version.
